About

Hi! My name is Sophia Lombardo, and I am an aspiring visual artist located in Boston.

I mainly work in drawing and painting with some experimentation in sculpture, animation, photography, and graphic design. Currently a sophomore in college, I intend to pursue psychology and find ways to incorporate art within this field.

Art is an outlet for my curiosity. I consider every piece to be an exploration, delving into relevant topics that pique my interest. With a focus on concept and craft, I investigate these ideas through a variety of mediums. I use color and composition to thoughtfully support a piece’s message and aesthetic. The style of my work ranges from realistic to abstract, with the subject often being inspired by my own photographs.

A theme I have repeatedly considered through art is the relationship between nature and man. In juxtaposing these elements, I seek to make sense of a world in which the organic and inorganic are closely and questionably intertwined. Flowers bursting from a lightbulb; could it exist? A seashore touching the lights of a city; should it exist? Subjects like these are prevalent throughout my pieces, constituting a body of work that is meaningful to me.
